Google Campus

Client: Google
Site: London, UK (2012)
Designer: Wayward

Wayward designed and built the moss garden in the new Google Campus London, a unique co-working space in the heart of East London’s Tech City which supports tech start-ups.

A handmade moss wall wraps the courtyard, utilising an innovative rainwater collection system. The gaps in the walls are tagged with Moss Graffiti, a guerrilla gardening tactic. Woodland plantings of ferns and hellebores fill the concrete planters in this shady space. Plant Thirst Detectors, which can be found throughout the garden, were designed by Technology Will Save Us, a haberdashery for technology and education and were originally developed as a workshop for the 2011 Urban Physic Garden.
